5-12-2012: Portugal Day two

portugalTeamcamp day 2

Despite of our 2012 celebration last night, we started our day again with the 7am yoga session. 7am is not my favourite time of the day, but I’m happy I can honestly say I enjoy the yoga lessons this year! Unlike last year when I just said it to be sponsor correct. Unfortunately I couldn’t join today because I had to work on some muscle strength in the gym. That’s what I found out last night, when I lost an arm wrestling match against Kristy and that made me set an extra goal for the new season. So Kristy, be prepared!

After breakfast we headed out for a sunny and easy three hours on the bike. Yesterday we got set up with a lot of new fancy stuff: new Specialized Amira’s & shoes, speedplay pedals and our sram shifting system. Time to get used to the new material and adjust where needed. Some of our sponsors joined the ride and they don’t only impress us off the bike with their cool products, but also on the bike with their fitness by adding an extra hour to their ride. Precious time that we as riders need to decide what we will wear in the afternoon. Since yesterday our closets are full of the coolest lululemon clothing; everything you can think of from jackets to socks in different designs and colours. Special thanks to lululemon for thinking of us single girls by adding a push up sports bra!

The afternoon program was different for everyone. Physio assesments with our crazy fit physio Beth, race program meetings with Ronny & Kristy, BG bike fits with the Specialized people, massages with our new physio Lars, video interviews for the website and last but not least; a presentation by Ian from HED about our superfast wheels and some secret TT & aerodynamic tips. On top of that we got some homework to do from lululemon by doing a test to find our strengths. To be continued…

At dinner it was time to announce the winner from ‘the Award of the day’. The award is a bottle of lululemon wine and a lululemon top. You can win it by doing something special, silly, stupid, good, bad or whatever. Today the award went to our ‘best mechanic in the world’ Olli! You might not expect it, but he is the most promising yoga practiser ever. Of course Olli was very proud and Ronny was very jealous.

So although it’s only day two of camp, we’re getting a lot of things done already and we would almost forget that our three new teammates Tayler, Carmen & Gillian weren’t on the team last year. They fit in very well and I can speak for everyone when I say we’re happy to have you in our team. 2013 is gonna be a fun year!
